Our Works

Building clean rivers through community-led environmental action

Precision Stream Assessment

Maintaining the health of our local waterways requires more than just observation; it demands Precision Stream Assessment. By utilizing advanced field equipment and standardized sampling protocols, we gather high-resolution data on the physical and chemical characteristics of our rivers. This rigorous assessment allows us to identify localized stressors, measure the success of previous restoration work, and ensure that the water quality remains optimal for both resident and migrating fish. Through this detailed scientific lens, we can make informed management decisions that protect the biological integrity of the entire basin for years to come.

Eco-Balanced Aquatic Feed

At Satsop Springs, we believe that healthy fish start with a healthy foundation. By utilizing Eco-Balanced Aquatic Feed, we ensure our salmon and steelhead receive a nutrient-dense diet specifically formulated to mimic natural protein sources while minimizing environmental impact. This specialized feed is designed for maximum absorption, reducing waste runoff into our pristine spring waters and promoting robust growth rates. By investing in high-quality, sustainable nutrition, we aren't just raising fish—we are preparing resilient, "river-ready" smolts equipped to thrive in the wild and sustain the future of the Chehalis Basin.

Strategic Stream Rejuvenation

The heartbeat of our mission at Satsop Springs is the careful and intentional repopulation of our region’s aquatic ecosystems. Through Strategic Stream Rejuvenation, we introduce healthy, river-ready salmon, trout and steelhead into the Chehalis Basin to bolster wild runs and ensure the long-term resilience of our river systems. Our efforts extend to local lakes as well, where we provide robust stocks to maintain vibrant, fishable waters for the community. To enhance the experience for local anglers, we specifically tag lake-bound fish for annual fishing derbies, allowing us to track growth and movement while fostering a spirit of competition and stewardship. Whether in a rushing river or a quiet lake, our goal remains the same: to fill our waters with life for generations to come.

Local Hands, Wild Runs

The success of Satsop Springs is built on the passion and hard work of our community. Through our Local Hands, Wild Runs initiative, we engage volunteers in diverse roles that are critical to our daily operations and long-term goals. From the hands-on care of young salmon and routine hatchery maintenance to assisting with scientific data collection and local fishing derbies, our volunteers provide the vital energy needed to sustain our basin. This diverse involvement not only keeps our facility running but also creates a deep, personal connection between our neighbors and the health of our watersheds. Whether you are a student looking for leadership experience or a local angler wanting to give back, there is a place for your hands in our mission.
